Judgment

ORDER This petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents 1 to 3 to give adequate police protection and to ensure no one to give right, respect and privilege in the forthcoming Sri Poo Kaaliyamman Temple Festival scheduled to be held on 28.07.2026 and 29.07.2026 at Pillur Village, Sivagangai District till the disposal of the civil suit and by considering the petitioner's representation dated 21.07.2026.

¶2The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the aforesaid temple festival is scheduled to be conducted on 28.07.2026 and

29.07.2026. It was further submitted that a civil suit in O.S. No.68 of 2024 is already pending before the learned District Munsif Court, Sivagangai, with respect to the various privileges and the conferment of first honour in connection with the said temple. While the said proceedings are pending, the temple festival is proposed to be conducted. In such circumstances, it is essential that none of the parties or any other person be conferred with any special privilege or first honour during the festival.

¶3The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents submitted that the direction of this Court would be duly complied with.

¶4Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials placed before this Court. Since no adverse order is proposed to be passed against the private respondents, notice to them is dispensed with.

¶5Considering the pendency of the suit in O.S. No.68 of 2024 on the file of the learned District Munsif Court, Sivagangai, in respect of the claim of special privileges and first honours during temple festivals and other auspicious occasions, this Court is of the considered view that no person shall be entitled to claim or be conferred with any first honour or special privilege until the disposal of the said suit.

¶6The second respondent police is directed to provide necessary police protection for the aforesaid temple festival, subject to the payment of requisite charges, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.139, Home (Pol-VIII) Department, dated 04.03.2019.

¶7With the above observations and directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of.
