ORDER
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.C.Jeganathan, learned Counsel for Government appearing for the respondents.
¶2With consent of both the parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
¶3The petitioner herein was appointed as the Junior Drafting Officer on compassionate grounds on 09.02.2009 consequent upon demise of his father. Thereafter, the petitioner was promoted to the post of Junior Engineer on 22.11.2017 and has been continuing as such till date. Though increments from time to time have been released in favour of the petitioner till the year 2019, thereafter the respondents stated to have not released the increments purportedly on the ground that the petitioner has not passed the Departmental Examinations. However, according to the petitioner, he has already passed the Departmental Examinations and he is eligible for drawing increments. However, the respondents have not been releasing the increments from the year 2022 onwards and hence, the petitioner claims to have submitted various representations dated 19.07.2023, 10.06.2025 and 22.06.2026 and
08.07.2026. But the respondents have not taken any action on the said representations. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present application.
¶4Mr.C.Jeganathan, learned Counsel for Government submits that the petitioner has submitted his representation only on 08.07.2026 and there were no earlier representations submitted by the petitioner and the respondents would take appropriate action on the said representation dated 08.07.2026 expeditiously.
¶5In the circumstances, without going into the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondents to consider the representation dated 08.07.2026 submitted by the petitioner for release of increments from the year 2020 in the post of Junior Engineer and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible at any rate, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
