Judgment
O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to return the petitioner's original Passport bearing No. S1522821 based on the Petitioners representation dated 17.07.2026.
¶2Heard the learned counsel for the parties. By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
¶3The petitioner asserts that his passport was damaged while washing his clothes and when he proceeded to the boarding counter, the immigration officials questioned him regarding the damage to the passport. When the petitioner explained the reason for the damage, the officials refused to permit him to proceed to the boarding gate and seized the passport. It is submitted that the petitioner has already submitted a representation dated 17.07.2026, requesting the first respondent to return the passport. However, the said request has not been acted upon so far. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.
¶4The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that it would suffice if this Court issues a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders on the same within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
¶5Considering the above facts and circumstances of the case and without going into the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated
17.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, if necessary. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
