Judgment

O R D E R The petitioner, who is a devotee of Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar and Visalakshi Amman at Sivakasi, has filed this Writ Petition to direct the respondents 1 to 4 to take appropriate action as against the respondents 5 and 6 that they have not performed the poojas to the deity properly.

¶2The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 submits that the Temple is under renovation and the respondents are intending to perform Kumbhabhishekam in the Tamil month of Thai. For performing Kumbhabhishekam, Balalayam was made on

24.04.2023 and the deity was taken and is kept in a separate room where poojas are performed. The allegation made by the petitioner that the poojas are not performed, is not correct.

¶3The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that there is a difference between normal Balalayam and Salanam Balalayam. The deity has not been taken and normal Balalayam alone was performed, however, Salanam Balalayam has not been taken place. According to the learned counsel, the respondents have not performed poojas properly to the deity and therefore, necessary action has to be taken to resume the poojas.

¶4The eighth respondent, namely, the Executive Officer of Arulmighu Sivakasi Sri Viswanathaswamy Koil, who is present before this Court, confirms that the poojas are performed to the deity properly and Balalayam was also performed.

¶5In view of the submission made by the eighth respondent, this Court is not inclined to pass any orders in this Writ Petition. However, the eighth respondent shall ensure that the poojas to the deity are performed in a proper manner without any default till Kumbhabhishekam is performed and also verify the procedure in doing Balalayam.

¶6Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
